The illusion of separation
A portrait of the land and the life it holds, this body of work points towards the innate oneness and fundamental unity to our existence. A Buddhist mind might call it emptiness, a quantum physicist might know it as the implicate order but both understand that at the core of all form there is no actual point of distinction. Instead, an untouchable mystery.
Illustrating the interconnectivity between human beings and the land which supports them: a homage to this union - both ancient and contemporary in one breath. A work set in nature, for nature, of nature. Featuring Tara Jade Samaya, who shares a primitive rawness, which breaks down binaries of gender and species. Distinctions between animal and plant fade, moments in time illuminate the simple perfection of the life death life cycle.
Immense gratitude to the Bundanon Trust and the Wodi Wodi people of the Yuin Nation; the traditional custodians of the incredible land you see in these images.
What an honour to bear witness and capture some of the first 'cultural burnings’ known as ’the good fire' to return to this area, bringing the wisdom of generations of aboriginal people to heal this land and forrest. (More info - https://bundanon.com.au/place/indigenous/firesticks-2018/)
